Haier Wins Two Technological Awards From IDG at IFA

BERLIN, Sept. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Chinese companies have become a force to be reckoned with at 2015 IFA, held in Berlin on September 4. Over 30 percent of the exhibitors were Chinese brands, with Haier, the leading household appliances brand worldwide, playing a leadership role.

Its dual-purpose washing machine and no-compressor wine cabinet were selected by Technical Innovation Award 2015, an event cohosted by the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), and International Data Group (IDG), an American technology, media, research, event management, and venture capital organization. The two products won the smart laundry & care innovation gold award and the smart tech gold award, respectively.

The two products were favored by the judges both for their utility and the forethought that went into the concept.

  • The special design of the washing machine was based on the concept that adults' and children's clothes should be separately washed. The pioneering upper-lower barrel design separates the two so they can be simultaneously washed. Furthermore, the machine operates in near silence, without disturbing wash cycle noises.
  • No-compressor wine cabinet is equipped with Haier's pioneering compressor-free technology and does away with the background noise associated with traditional wine cabinets, solving an annoyance that has plagued the owners of household appliances since their advent.
